Job Description:
As a Tour Operator, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading travel and sightseeing tours for individuals and groups. You will create memorable experiences by showcasing Alberta's unique attractions and ensuring safety and satisfaction throughout the journey.
Skills:
- Develop and coordinate tour itineraries and logistics
- Accompany groups on tours, provide commentary, and ensure guest safety
- Handle bookings, confirmations, and transportation arrangements
- Liaise with local attractions, hotels, and service providers
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve any travel-related issues
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and COVID-19 protocols (if applicable)
- Promote tourism packages and offer upgrades or extra activities
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Post-secondary education in tourism, hospitality, or related field (asset)
- Certification in First Aid/CPR (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license (Class 4 or equivalent may be required)
- Multilingual ability is an asset
Responsibilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Customer-service oriented
- Knowledge of Alberta’s geography, history, and tourist attractions
- Ability to manage groups and lead activities confidently
- Fluency in English; other languages like French, Mandarin, Spanish are an asset
Experience and specialization:
- Minimum 1 year experience in tourism, hospitality, or customer service
- Specialization in eco-tours, cultural tours, or adventure tourism is an asset
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture and tourism considered a plus
Additional information:
- Must be flexible to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons
- Physical fitness required for walking tours, hiking, or outdoor excursions
- Criminal background check may be required
